Kirsty Hall Working without a safety net: Can Fiona's anxieties be contained? – A Clinical Seminar Date: 27th May 2006 Time: 2.00pm – 4.00pm Venue: Griffith College South Circular Road Dublin 8. “But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
W.B. Yeats Starting with a clinical vignette, this paper will discuss a dialectical approach to Fiona's anxieties using both Freudian and Lacanian ideas to shed a fresh light on Bion's concept of containment. Kirsty Hall is a dreamer and a psychoanalyst. In the prosaic world she lectures in psychoanalysis at Middlesex University, teaches at the Guild of Psychotherapists and is an active member of the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. At the interface with the world of the dream and the nightmare, she has a private practice where she listens to prose and poetry. |
